МТВ мост Томсона-Витстона предназначен для точного измерения нулевым методом сопротивления проводников постоянному току в пределах от 1 мкОм до 1 МОм.
Постоянные ветви моста r1 и r2 выполнены в виде двух одинаковых штепсельных магазинов сопротивлений, на каждом из которых путем перестановки штепселя можно установить сопротивление в - 10 Ом; 100 Ом; 1000 Ом; 10 000 Ом.
