MKS-UM multipurpose dosimeter-radiometer designed for measurement of ambient dose equivalent rate (DER) of gamma and X-ray radiation, ambient dose equivalent (DE) of gamma and X-ray radiation, beta-particles surface flux density and beta-particles surface activity, alpha-particles surface flux density and alpha-particles surface activity, accumulation time of gamma and X-ray radiation DE, archive of measurement results tagged to location coordinates.

 

Technical characteristics of the MKS-UM:

 

Measurement of gamma and X-ray radiation parameters.

 

Measurement range of gamma and X-ray DER:

- with the BDKS-01 combined detecting unit - from 0,1 µSv/h to 10 Sv/h;

- with the BDKS-02 combined detecting unit - from 0,1 µSv/h to 2 Sv/h.

 

Measurement range of gamma and X-ray DER with wide range removable detector of the dosimeter-radiometer MKS-UM - from 0,01 Sv/h to 100 Sv/h.

Measurement range of gamma and X-ray DE with integrated in a control panel detector - from 0,001 mSv to 9999 mSv.

Main relative permissible error for measurement of gamma and X-ray DE with integrated in a control panel detector - ±15%.

 

Main relative permissible errors in DER measurement when calibrated with 137Cs for:

- BDKS-01 and BDKS-02 combined detecting units - ±(15+2/H·(10))%, where H·(10) is a numeric value of measured DER in µSv/h;

- wide range removable detector - ±(15+200/H·(10))%, where H·(10) is a numeric value of measured DER in mSv/h.

 

Energy range of measurement with MKS-UM - from 0,05 MeV to 3 MeV.

Measurement of DE accumulation time:

- range - from 1 min to 100 h;

- measurement error per 100 h - ±1 min.

 

Measurement of beta radiation parameters.

 

Measurement range of:

- surface beta-particles flux density with the BDKS-01 and BDKS-02 combined detecting units - from 10 1/(cm2·min) to 200 000 1/(cm2·min);

- beta-particles surface activity with the BDKS-01 and BDKS-02 combined detecting units - from 0 to 13 500 Bq/cm2.

 

Energy range of measurement of the dosimeter-radiometer MKS-UM:

- with the BDKS-01 combined detecting unit - from 0,3 MeV to 3 MeV;

- with the BDKS-02 combined detecting unit - from 0,15 MeV to 3 MeV.

 

Main relative permissible error in measurements of:

- beta-particles flux density when calibrated to 90Sr+90Y - ±(20+200/φβ)%, where φβ is a numeric value of measured surface flux density part./(cm2·min);

- beta-particles surface activity when calibrated to 90Sr+90Y - ±(20+10/B)%, where B is a numeric value of measured surface flux density part./(cm2·min).

 

Measurement of alpha radiation parameters.

 

Measurement range of:

- surface alpha-particles flux density of the MKS-UM with the BDKS-02 combined detecting unit - from 10 1/(cm2·min) to 300 000 1/(cm2·min);

- alpha-particles surface activity with the BDKS-02 combined detecting unit - from 0 to 13 500 Bq/cm2.

 

Energy range of measurement of the MKS-UM with the BDKS-02 combined detecting unit - not less than 4 MeV.

Main relative permissible error in measurements of:

- alpha-particles flux density when calibrated to 239Pu - ±(15+300/φ)%, where φ is a numeric value of measured surface flux density part./(cm2·min);

- alpha-particles surface activity when calibrated to 239Pu - ±(15+15/A)%, where A is a numeric value of measured alpha-particles surface activity Bq/cm2.

 

Time of continuous operation of the MKS-UM dosimeter-radiometer when powered from a rechargeable lithium-ion battery - 100 h.

 

Rechargeable lithium-ion battery charging by the built-in charger from:

- internal solar battery;

- 12 V car battery;

- 220 V/50 Hz mains power using a voltage converter.

Device has following detector types:

- gas-discharge Geiger-Muller counters without return run of counting response;

- silicon beta radiation detector;

- emergency scintillation gamma detector.

 

Dosimeters-radiometers MKS-UM measures gamma radiation dose rate from the background to emergency levels.

Availability of the remote detector enables measuring emergency levels of gamma radiation dose rate at a distance of 30 m.

 

Storage battery of the device is charged with the help of the built-in charger from built-in solar battery, from car battery or from industrial network.

The device has the nonvolatile memory, and the recorded results can be viewed on the display and transferred to the PC.

Logging of up to 1500 measurement results tagged to location coordinates in the nonvolatile memory via infrared port to the PC (built-in GPS/GLONASS receiver).

 

Terms of Use of the MKS-UM:

 

Operating temperature range (digital display) - from -40° С to +50° С (from -40° С to +95° С).

High protection rating (IP67) and a rubber protective case allow using the device in harsh climatic conditions.

The device operates under the conditions of atmospheric precipitations, dusty conditions and when the remote detector is submerged in the water at 0,5 m depth.
